The Tottenham players on return to training at Spurs Lodge gave their thoughts on being back for pre-season and the season ahead.
The non-World Cup players returned to training and some spoke to Spurs TV prior to the commencement of training under new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino and his staff. Emmanuel Adebayor, Andros Townsend and Harry Kane gave their thoughts on the season ahead.
Tottenham Players On Return To Training
Emmanuel Adebayor spoke of working hard and looking forward to the season. He emphasised the importance of the team with his personal ambitions secondary as it was all about the team and the objective for the team is to finish in the top-4 so that is his goal as well.
I want to help the team finish in the top-4.
Andros Townsend spent much of the summer at Spurs Lodge as he worked on his fitness following the surgery required at the end of the season. He wanted to be 100% for coming back to training so that he could be fit and impress the manager.
Hopefully we can start to gel as a squad in the coming weeks.
Townsend spoke of it being another ‘big season’ ahead for him following his breakthrough year for club and country. He hoped to build on last year and show greater consistency.
Harry Kane is looking forward to a tough pre-season. He has fully recovered from the injury picked up playing with England Under-21 side so he is hoping to get fit and be ready for the season.
On Friday evening Aaron Lennon commented about the return to training on his twitter account. He tweeted:
Good to be back in today and see everyone, and meet the new boss and his coaching staff, 1st day down, time to chill and watch #BRAvsCOL
