Tottenham are reported to be interested in signing defender, Hector Moreno, winger Memphis Depay and midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.
After a few quiet weeks on the transfer front, Tottenham have been linked in recent days with players who are at the World Cup in Brazil.
Central defender, Hector Moreno is currently playing for Mexico in the World Cup.
According to Talksport, reports in Spain suggest that Tottenham are considering a move for the Espanyol defender but Spurs will face opposition from Manchester United and Inter Milan for Moreno.
The 26 year old has played in Europe since 2008 when he signed for AZ Alkmaar in Holland. Three years later he moved to Spain, joining Espanyol where new Tottenham manager Pochettino was in charge. Moreno has been very consistent in the three seasons in Spain making 107 appearances and scoring 5 goals and has impressed with Mexico with 54 international appearances.
Tottenham had their defensive woes last season and Pochettino is looking to bring in some new players to strengthen that area of the team.
The Daily Star has linked Spurs with a move for the PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay who scored the winning goal for Holland against Australia during the week. Spurs are reported to have made a bid of £17m for the 20-year-old, but Manchester United are also interested with new manager Louis van Gaal in a prime position to influence the player’s decision, if he so wishes.
Depay broke into the PSV team in 2011 and has made 60 league appearances. He scored 13 goals for PSV last season and made his international debut in October, 2013. He has played 7 games for Holland with the strike in the World Cup tie his first for his country.
A report in the Mirror suggestts that Tottenham could sign midfielder Esteban Cambiasso from Inter Milan. The experienced 33-year-old (34 in August), former Argentine international, is available on a free transfer but Spurs would need to sell at least one of their numerous central defenders before making a move for Cambiasso.
He moved from River Plate to Real Madrid in 2002 and after two seasons joined Inter Milan. In ten seasons in Italy he has made over 400 appearances for Inter, scoring 51 goals. The defensive midfielder played over 50 games for Argentina, the last being in 2011.
Cambiasso would bring vast experience to Tottenham and a more combative nature and winning mentality to the Spurs team which rolled over too easily last season.
World Cup Signings?
Every four years, players taking part in the World Cup are linked with moves – some prove successful, other not so. It will only be in a few weeks time at the conclusion of the competition that it will become clear whether the rumours surrounding Hectro Moreno, Memphis Depay and Esteban Cambiasso are anything more than that.
