The Tottenham pre-season matches will see the team play 5 games in July and August as Mauricio Pochettino prepares the players for the start of the 2014-15 season against West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday, 16th August.

As part of their pre-season preparations Tottenham will return to the North America for the third time in 5 years for a training and promotional tour which includes 3 matches against MLS teams. They will play two games in the United States and one in Canada.

The non-World Cup players will return to White Hart Lane in early July to commence pre-season training under new Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff. With the potential for the World Cup in Brazil to extend to early or mid-July for some of the Tottenham players, Paulinho, Hugo Lloris and the Belgium trio, those players who have been in Brazil will return later.

Seattle Sounders

Saturday, 19th July (9pm UK): the opening game of the tour is against Seattle Sounders, the MLS team who signed Clint Dempsey last summer. Dempsey returned to the US in an unexpected transfer which saw the US national team captain leave the Premier League as he prepared and planned for his country’s participation in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil. Dempsey achieved his goal with the US securing their place at the Finals and he scored their first goal in the win over Ghana.

Toronto FC

Thursday, 24th July (midnight UK): Tottenham move to Canada to play Toronto FC who signed Jermain Defoe last January. Defoe had hoped that playing regularly would give him a better chance of making the England squad for Brazil but he was to be disappointed, missing out on selection for Roy Hodgson’s squad.

Chicago Fire

Sunday, 27th July (1am UK): The final game is against Chicago Fire where the young Tottenham player Grant Ward has been on loan since last March. The loan move was initially set to end in July but has been extended to the end of 2014. Ward can play at full back or in midfield.

Tottenham have arranged two further friendlies.

Glasgow Celtic

Saturday, 2nd August (2.30pm UK): Spurs will be in Finland to Glasgow Celtic in Helsinki. The last time the two teams met was in a pre-season tournament at Wembley in 2009 when Celtic won 2 – 0.

FC Schalke 04

Saturday, 9th August (5.30pm): As has been their custom for a number of seasons Tottenham complete their pre-season preparations with a friendly match at White Hart Lane. This season they are due to play the German side FC Schalke 04 from whom Spurs signed Lewis Holtby in January, 2013.

Tottenham would normally have played some games against lower League teams in England as part of their early preparations before embarking on their tour but, to date, there has been no indication that they are planning such games this summer.
