Mauricio Pochettino has given his first Tottenham interview since being appointed as Head Coach. He spoke briefly to SpursTV and gave his thoughts on the future at the club.
In the short interview with SpursTV, Mauricio Pochettino, speaking in English, said that it was an absolute honour to be Head Coach at such a big club and that he was very happy to be at White Hart Lane.
Coaching TeamPochettino confirmed that Steffen Freund had been added to the coaching team which he had brought from Southampton – Jesus Perez (Assistant Head Coach), Miguel D’Agostino (First Team Coach) and Toni Jiminez (Goalkeeping Coach).
He emphasised the importance of the coaches who will be working with the players. He described them as being nice people who are professional and loyal and it is their important role to relay their footballing philosophy to the squad.
The training style according to Pochettino is sometimes demanding too much but they use commonsense. They demand a lot from the players but their philosophy is to “suffer in training to help them through the game”. He said that the players had nothing to fear as they work with commonsense all the times.
He said that he expected full commitment and a positive attitude from the players.

When asked for his thoughts on Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa, Tottenham’s Argentinian stars of the 1980s who joined Spurs after their success in the 1978 World Cup, Mauricio Pochettino said that he had amazing memories of them and he admired them and it was an honour to be part of the club.
