Tottenham In The News: Paulinho, Kyle Walker and Lewis Holtby

This morning’s newspapers are reporting stories concerning transfer interest which could take Paulinho and Lewis Holtby away from Tottenham while it is thought Kyle Walker could miss the World Cup Finals.

Paulinho is rumoured to be the target of a bid from Chelsea – that’s what the Stamford Bridge club need another midfield player. According to the Daily Mail Chelsea could make a bid of £17 m for the Brazil player who hasn’t made the expected impact since arriving at White Hart Lane last summer. Paulinho has scored 7 goals this season, the last against Fulham being his first at White Hart Lane. Paulibnho has only recently returned to the Spurs starting team, having complained about lack of opportunity harming his chances of making the Brazilian team for the World Cup Finals. A move to Stamford Bridge would see Paulinho link up with the other Brazilian internationals – David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires, Willian  and Oscar.

Lewis Holtby

Holtby is currently on loan with Fulham until the end of the season and according to the Daily Telegraph he is a target for Paul Lambert at Aston Villa. Holtby has been unable to secure a regular staring place in his time with Spurs. He has impressed in games when he has come off the bench but has been unable to be a consistent influence on Tottenham matches. He is a favourite with many fans for his enthusiasm and obvious love of the game, showing total commitment in every game. His future at Spurs could depend on who’s in charge at Tottenham next season.

Kyle Walker

Injury has kept Kyle Walker out of the Spurs team since the middle of last month. According to BBC Sport his pelvic injury could now keep him out of the England team for the World Cup Finals. With Andros Townsend going under surgery today for his ankle injury picked up last weekend, Walker would be the second Tottenham player to be disappointed to miss out on the England squad for this summer’s World Cup.
