Memorable Night: Tottenham v Benfica – Old Photographs From 1962

In 1962, Tottenham had to pull back a two goal deficit against Benfica at White Hart Lane in the 2nd leg of the European Cup semi-final. They couldn’t quite make it and although the evening ended in disappointment, it was a memorable match.

Tottenham in their first experience of European football were confident of over-turning the deficit at White Hart Lane as they had done in the earlier rounds against Gornik Zabrze and Dulka Prague.
