After any match there will always be a wide range of views expressed about the team’s performance. After a defeat it’s never wise to search messageboards or Twitter for other fans’ opinions. After a six goal mauling, it’s sheer madness – but here goes.
Andre Villas-Boas had his 50th Premier League game in charge of Tottenham spoiled by the result at City. Speaking after the game, speaking to BBC Sport, he said,
We have to be ashamed of ourselves, and react to a defeat like this.
He acknowledged that there were not a lot of positives to take from the game but that the players had reacted after the early set-back and had a good spell but the 2 – 0, the 3 – 0 came so quickly that Spurs never got a chance to get back into the game. Everything went wrong for Spurs who he said, “were extremely poor.”
On Tottenham messageboards, threads appeared with the following titles which illustrated the fans thoughts on the game and performance:
AVB Found Out!
Reality Check – We Got Our Tottenham Back today
The Formation is the Problem
City mashing is a blessing in disguise!
None of our signings has really worked except Chiriches
There were questions over AVB’s future but there was a thread supporting him.
I don’t want AVB out!
Twitter reaction in some cases focused on AVB’s position and whether he’d lost the dressing room. Even Richard ‘Crackers’ Cracknell offered that view.
AVB is looking out of his depth. He's lost the dressing room. Painful to see. Think the prem is too soon for him sadly

Following a defeat the reaction is immediate with Twitter, Facebook and messageboards. How the players, team and manager react in the coming weeks will indicate how serious a blow that result was to Tottenham’s aspirations for the season. We lost 5 – 2 at the Emirates at a similar time last season but AVB turned it around. Can he do it again?
