After five matches in the Premier League Tottenham are leading the way in a number of different areas.
Tottenham have made an impressive start to the 2013-14 season and after 5 matches have 12 points to be 2nd in the Premier League, on goal difference behind Arsenal. Those are just the first of a number of interesting Spurs statistics from the opening weeks of the season.
Spurs’ Season, so far, by numbers:
Clean sheets kept by Hugo Lloris in the Premier League, more than any other goalkeeper.
Most shots at goal by a single player in PL matches – Andros Townsend – two ahead of his nearest rival, Giroud.
Shots by Tottenham in last Sunday’s win over Cardiff City. Four more than any other team has managed in a PL Game -
12 on target, 9 off target and 8 blocked
Shots on goal – two more than closest rival, Arsenal
Corners won by Spurs, 6 more than next team, Manchester City
More crosses than any other team – 9 more than Everton and Manchester United
Tottenham’s Season – All Matches
8 wins in all competitions from 9 games
Goals scored with only 1 conceded
Including Last Season
Spurs have conceded 1 goal in 987 minutes, stretching back to the 3rd minute of the penultimate match of last season against Stoke City.
One defeat in 19 matches since losing at home to Fulham in mid-March
** My thanks to @CMatesUk who tweeted some of these stats during the past week**
It has been an impressive start to the season by Spurs and an incredible run by AVB’s team since late last season. Hopefully, we will continue to add to these stats in the week’s ahead and even when faced with adversity in the days, weeks, months ahead we need to remember just how far the club has come in recent seasons. It is form like this that is required ,week in week out, to be in a position to challenge the, as they are now called, “elite” clubs of English football.
