With four already signed on for Andre Villas-Boas’ Tottenham project, are Willian and Erik Lamela to be next on Daniel Levy’s radar to further strengthen the team for the season ahead?Willian
Willian is a player Villas-Boas has tried to sign on two previous occasions – while at Chelsea and last season for Spurs. Having only signed for the Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala, last January, he was not a player expecte dto become available but the club’s financial problems have seen all their players put on the transfer list. Spurs are reported to be interested in the Brazilain attacking midfield player as are Liverpool.
Reports from Russia suggest that Tottenham are in pole position to complete the signing having agreed terms with the club and the player who has only to undergo a medical.
Willan is 25 years old and made over 200 appearances for the Ukrainian side, Shakhtar Donetsk, where he has six seasons having signed from Corinthians. He scored 37 goals and in his brief time in Russia he has scored once in 15 appearances. He has made two appearances for Brazil.
The signing of Willian would add creativity to the midfield for Spurs, something which appears to be missing from what is a very powerful and commanding quartet in the Brazilians, Sandro and Paulinho, Mousa Dembele and Etienne Capoue.
Other reports suggest that Franco Baldini is meeting with representatives of Roma to discuss the completion of a deal for striker, Erik Lamela with suggestions that the player has been told that if Totenham come up with the £30m fee, then he is free to go.
Exciting days at Tottenham and the club has never had a better summer on the transfer front. In the past Tottenham have been linked with top class players but often negotiations have never reached a conclusion – this summer it’s been different making you think that reports of Spurs interest in Wilian amd Lamela could be accurate and that it might just happen for at least one of those players and possible both.
