The message from Belgian duo, Christian Benteke and Nacer Chadli, to Tottenham appears to be, “Come and Get Us.” For over a week both players have been linked with Spurs and there have been suggestions of Tottenham preparing to make bids.
The newspaper rumours suggest that Bentkeke is hoping for a quick resolution of his situation with Aston Villa. Having handed in a transfer request at the beginning of last week he was given extended time off but is due to commence training on Thursday. Reports suggest White Hart Lane is Beneteke’s favoured solution to his problem even in the face of interest from Chelsea and his countryman, Eden Hazard, encouraging him to join up with him at Stamford Bridge. The striker doesn’t want to return to Villa Park according to reports so he’s hoping to have the matter resolved before Thursday.
Tottenham may or may not be in discussions with Villa as they may prefer to play a waiting game to see if they can reduce Villa’s expectations on the fee.
The Belgium winger, Nacer Chaldi, is with FC Twente and the latest report in the Mirror suggests that Swansea have submitted an offer as have Shakhtar Donetsk but through comments from the player’s agent, he appears determined to wait for Tottenham to make a move with no offer having yet been made by Spurs to the Dutch club whose Chairman said,
“We hear a lot about Tottenham but the club will have to put up a concrete offer first. So far, only Swansea and Shakhtar have made concrete offers and are still options, even though Nacer decided not to go to them.”
With two internationals reported to be wanting to sign for Tottenham, both wanting to join up with their fellow countrymen, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele, hopefully the club will be able to finalise negotiations with their clubs before they and the players run out of patience with Spurs over their lack of decisiveness in their transfer dealings.
Could the message from Chadli be any clearer?
