The comments by Villas-Boas that Gareth Bale will be staying at Spurs for another season will come as a great relief to every Tottenham supporter. The manager says that he has been assured by the Chairman, Daniel Levy, that Bale’s immediate future is at White Hart Lane. His remarks have been reported in the Sun,
The Tottenham manager, Andre Villas-Boas, has stated that Gareth Bale will not be leaving Tottenham this summer even though there has been constant speculation since the end of the season over Bale’s and AVB’s future.
“We have the pledge of the chairman that Bale is not going to leave the club.”
Gareth Bale remains a target for both Real Madrid and PSG but Spurs are adamant that they will not sell him. Paris Saint Germain were trying to recruit both AVB and Bale but have now been repelled by the Tottenham Head Coach.
Real Madrid who are waiting to appoint their new manager in place of Jose Mourinho have been vociferous in the media over their interest in Bale. Their club Ambassador and Director of Football, Zinedine Zidane, has spoken frequently of his desire to see Bale playing for Real and only last weekend encouraged the player to submit a transfer request to move the situation along. Last weekend, Zidane’s comments to the Sunday People newspaper were reported in the Daily Mail,
“I think Real Madrid have made their admiration of Gareth Bale very clear – and it has been made clear that we would not be put off by the cost of the player but if Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave.”
With the news that the manager has pledged his future to Tottenham having been a target for Paris Saint Germain, these comments will help Tottenham move ahead with their summer transfer plans. They have also appointed Franco Baldini as Technical Director with responsibility for transfer negotiations, relieving Daniel Levy of this task which has taken a great deal of his time over past transfer windows.
