Tottenham’s win over Newcastle United at White Hart Lane enabled them to maintain their hold on 4th position in the Premier League on the back of some interesting and improving statistics.
- Tottenham’s win was their 10th Premier League match without defeat. The sequence since conceding two quick goals in added on time at Goodison Park to lose at Everton is: WDWWWDDDWW. It doesn’t quite match last season’s run of #WWWWDWWWWWW which propelled Tottenham into 3rd position twelve months ago but this year’s record has shown the team is developing a solidity that hopefully will stand them in good stead for the final months of the season and enable them to avoid Spurs’ recent February to April slump.
- Gareth Bale has scored all of Tottenham’s goals in their last three matches. He has 4 in three Premier League games against Norwich, West Bromwich and Newcastle. His total for Tottenham in all competitions this season is 15 with 13 in the Premier League.
- Gareth Bale and Clint Dempsey are responsible for scoring Tottenham last 10 goals in all competitions. No other Spurs player has scored since the New Year’s Day win over Reading. Bale missed that game through suspension and Dempsey came off the bench to score the third goal. Michael Dawson and Emmanuel Adebayor having given Spurs a 2 – 1 advantage.
- Tottenham are unbeaten in the last 15 matches in which Michael Dawson has started, conceding only 8 goals.
Long may these stats continue to improve for Tottenham, although it would be of benefit to the team if some other payers could find a way of putting the ball in the back of the net!
