Yesterday’s reports on Lewis Holtby have proved correct as Tottenham have confirmed that the German Under-21 captain has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the club in July, subject to a medical. As reported earlier in the week a number of clubs were interested in Holtby with Spurs heading off the challenge from Liverpool and Arsenal in England plus other interested clubs in Europe. Holtby, a creative midfield player, wanted the experience of Premier League football and was a member of the Schalke team in this season’s Champions League. He is a regular in the Schalke team and played in all 6 Champions League matches this season, including the two games against Arsenal, starring in the home match when he was credited with assists for both goals in the 2 – 2 draw. He is anxious to continue playing in the competition an dis hopeful that Tottenham will secure a place for next season.
Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone to Leave? It is being reported that Jake Livermorecould be leaving Tottenham this month. The club are looking at him going out on loan with two former Tottenham managers interested in the player. Harry Redknapp at Queen’s Park Rangers and Martin Jol at Fulham could make a move to sign him. Livermore made a big impression for Spurs last season with 38 appearances under Redknapp but has only made ten appearances this year with only two Premier League starts at the beginning of the season. He made an appearance for England against Italy last August but has found his opportunities restricted this season at White Hart Lane through injury and with the arrival of Mousa Dembele. The return of Scott Parker from injury will also limit his chances of getting into the team so it would make sense for him to gain further Premier League experience on loan until the end of the season. Livermore, however, appears reluctant to leave, preferring to stay and fight for a place.
Tom Huddlestone is another player in whom other clubs are showing interest.
