Totttenham’s Under-19 team defeated Barcelona 4 – 1 in their latest NextGen series game in Spain. Having lost 0 – 2 at home to Barca, the young Tottenham players have produced an excellent result in this competition which is in its second season. Twenty four teams are competing and are divided into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group and the four teams finishing 3rd who have amassed the most points will enter the knock-out stages. Tottenham are now equal top of the group with Barcelona on 8 points after five matches. Wolfsburg are four points behind but have two matches to play.

Shaq Coulthirst scored a hat-trick for Spurs and Alex Pritchard added a fourth before Barcelona scored a late consolation goal. Coulthirst’s first two goals came within two minutes of each other, the first scored after 27 minutes. Two up at half-time Coulthirst completed his hat-trick on the hour. It was the perfect hat-trick – left foot, right foot and a header. Pritchard scored with 18 minutes to go and it was only in the final minutes that Barcelona managed to get their goal with two minutes to play.
This result puts Spurs in a strong position to qualify for the knock-out stages with one match to play against Anderlecht at Hotspur Way on 13th December.
