Harry Kane scored England’s second goal against France in the UEFA Under-19 Championships being played in Estonia. The win sees England top of their Group and qualify for the semi-final where they will play Greece. England took an early lead against France but after the French drew level Kane scored the winning goal when the French goalkeeper flapped at the ball from a corner. It fell to Kane who displayed good technique as he scored from a position in the centre of the penalty area. Kane was playing in  a deeper central midfield role but with freedom to get forward. He worked hard and successfully pressurised the French to regain possession for England. He showed good distribution and nearly had a chance to score a second goal from a long throw to the back post but the ball just eluded him. The French played much the better football as England defended in depth for long periods and at times rode their luck.

England drew their opening match of the competition against Croatia and then defeated Serbia 2 – 1 with Kane involved in both goals. The first goal came when Kane put the Serbian goalkeeper under pressure forcing him into a mistake which allowed England to score. In the second half Kane was again involved in the build up to the second goal.

Harry Kane was a prolific goalscorer for the Tottenham Academy and then went on loan to Leyton Orient, scoring five goals in 18 League One appearances. Last season he was given a chance for Spurs in the Europa League and scored his first goal in the match against Shamrock Rovers in Dublin. He then spent the second half of the season on loan with Millwall where he grew in stature and scored nine Championship goals.

Still only 18 years of age, Kane is gaining experience at different levels of football and his play is developing as he gains in confidence. He will be looking to get an opportunity to further his progress with Spurs this coming season. He is a hard working player and is one of a number of former Academy players looking to make a good impression on the new Head Coach.
