Tottenham 1 - Chelsea 1: Player Ratings

When Emmanual Adebayor slotted home a goal in the 8th minute off a Gareth Bale cross I thought that Tottenham may very well smash Chelsea. That did not happen of course as Chelsea battled back after a buzzing start from Spurs with a little help from our not so good friend Howard Webb. Yes, it was a clear handball by Ashley Cole but our defending was shabby and the players were not playing to the whistle. Both clubs had several chances to put home a game winner in the second half but Adebayor had a goal dubiously called off for being offsides and Oriol Romeu had a last minute shot go just inches wide. With the draw, Tottenham retains their place and currently sits third in the table going into Christmas and are the best positioned club in all of London. That should make for a merry Christmas indeed. Now on to the ratings!

Friedel 7: The American came up big when needed. I can’t imagine this team without him right now.

Walker 7: Without Azza the young Walker provided width for Tottenham. I would like to see him put in early crosses more often to keep defenders honest though.

Gallas 5.5: I tweeted before the match that selecting Gallas over Kaboul was the right call. I was wrong as Gallas was well below what we are use to from him in passing and positioning.

King 6: He was a warrior out there today for playing on short rest on his bum knee. Made no major mistakes and organized the backline well except for on the lone goal. The pace of Chelsea caught him out of position at times.

BAE 6: Benny was mistake prone today and his passing was below par. He will have better days.

Modric 7: Modric did well completing 91% of his passes and was tied with BAE for most touches on the team at 81. Funny, I did not think he saw the ball enough during the game.

Sandro 7.5 (MOTM):  His midfield ball winning was excellent and charged forward offensively at times. Beast of a player that will be hard to keep on the bench.

Parker 6.5: Looked motivated and picked up his game from the last few outings.

Bale 7: Set up the Adebayor goal and looked fir coming off of his ankle injury. I wish Spurs would have gotten him the ball more in the second half with two Chelsea subs in defense.

Van der Vaart 6: Had to drop very deep to get the ball isolating Adebayor way too much. Went off at HT due to hamstring concerns.

Adebayor 6.5: Great toe touch finish on his first half goal. Moved around well and was active should have had a second goal.

Pavlyuchenko 5: Shockingly bad. Couldn’t even stay on his feet most the time when the ball came his way. Super Pav giveth vs Sunderland and Super Pav taketh vs Chelsea.
